Lockdown 3.0: Over 3000 NRI Odias To Return Home

Bhubaneswar: While the Centre has decided to bring back Non-Resident Indians (NRI) from abroad, over 3,000 Odias from the middle-east and western countries are scheduled to return to Odisha amid the third-phase of the lockdown.

While most of the NRIs will return from the middle-east,  others will come back from Singapore, USA and UK.

However, no decision has yet been taken whether these returnees will be kept in quarantine centres in Delhi after being tested for COVID-19 or they will be sent back to their respective states.

As for the NRI Odias, the state government had held video conferencing with them recently to discuss their return to Odisha and the quarantine centres they will stay thereafter.

Sources said that the government has suggested to the NRI Odias eto ither stay at hotels at their own expenses or at government quarantine centres free of cost.

The state government will take a final decision after receiving the next notification from the Centre on this matter.
