Lockdown Compassion: Odisha’s Ganjam DC Helps Woman In Getting Son Treated
Chhatrapur: The proactive move of Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has enabled a Gangpur-1 resident to continue her son’s treatment during the lockdown.
Namita Karan takes her 10-year-old son regularly to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for the treatment of a serious disease. Realising that her son would miss his treatment during the lockdown, Nmaita approached the local administration and managed to obtain a pass to travel to Cuttack. The next problem was how to reach there. There was no public transport and she could not afford a private one.
So, with the help of a neighbour, she approached Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, who directed Chhatrapur Sub-Collector Priya Ranjan Prusty to provide financial support to Namita. The latter gave Namita Rs 10,000 from the Red Cross fund. A relieved Namita managed to hire an ambulance and take her son for treatment to Cuttack.
“Without the district administration’s help, I wouldn’t have been able to continue with my son’s treatment. Words cannot express the gratitude I owe to the District Collector and the Sub-Collector,” said Namita.
