Lockdown Extended Till June 30 In 2 Districts Of Himachal After Sharp Rise In Corona Cases
Shimla: Following a sharp spike in deadly coronavirus cases in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government extended the lockdown in Hamirpur and Solan districts till June 30.
The district administrations has issued a notice regarding the curfew (lockdown) extension in their respective areas. The step was taken after Hamirpur and Solan became the new epicentre of corona with 63 and 21 cases respectively. The rest 10 districts will remain under lockdown till May 31 as prescribed by the Centre, media reports said.
According to Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the total number of corona cases in the state has risen to 203 with 63 recoveries. The virus has so far claimed three lives.
Meanwhile, a pregnant woman in Hamirpur district has tested corona positive. The 25-year-old woman from Asar village of Badar region had recently returned from Mumbai with her husband, who has also tested positive for the virus. The woman is being kept in Isolation at Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, the reports added.
District Magistrate, Hamirpur, Harikesh Meena said, “Over 10,000 people have returned to Hamirpur from various red zones in the country in the past 30 days.”
Also, a woman from Baddi (Solan) was found positive in Sector 16, Chandigarh, after delivery. The 19-year-old was referred to Chandigarh on May 22. After delivery, her swab samples were sent for examination and the result was positive.
Confirming the news, Tehsildar Rishabh Sharma said that the administration had started sanitizing the entire area. A list of people who had come in contact with the woman is being prepared, he added.
