New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra finally knows her challenger from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for next month’s Wayanad Lok Sabha byelection.
The saffron party on Saturday named Navya Haridas to contest from the prestigious constituency in Kerala which was vacated by Rahul Gandhi, who also won from Rae Bareli and chose to retain that seat in UP.
Congress decided to field Priyanka from Wayanad the day her brother Rahul decided to give up Wayanad four days ago.
Election Commission of India (ECI) announced November 13 as the date for byelections.
Priyanka, who will be making her electoral debut, will also have to contend with a CPI candidate, Despite being an ally of Congress in the Opposition INDIA bloc, CPI has decided to field Sathyan Mokeri against Priyanka.
Champai Soren among BJP’s first list of Jharkhand candidates
BJP released its first list of 66 candidates for next month’s Jharkhand Assembly elections. State party chief Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar and former CM Champai Soren from Saraikella.
Jharkhand will vote in two phases – November 13 and 20 – with results to be declared on November 23.
Maharashtra is the other state which will go to polls to elect its 288 legislators on November 20.
