Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 16 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till around 3 pm on Monday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower along with lightning may occur at a few places in the districts of Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Ganjam, Nuapada, Balangir, Jajpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Kalahandi, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar) and Malkangiri in 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The warning has come amid possible formation of a low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts during the next 36 hours. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Odisha during the next 6-7 days, according to the IMD’s morning bulletin.
