Tehran: Iran has mocked the Trump administration after Vice President JD Vance admitted that the military campaign against Tehran helped Republicans lose this week’s midterm elections. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the administration was refusing to end a conflict that has now damaged it politically.

In a long post on X, Vance said the Republican Party’s heavy losses on November 3 happened because many people who voted for Donald Trump in 2024 moved away from the party this time. He said the war with Iran, higher living costs and inflation, the move away from the “America First” agenda, and Washington’s close ties with Israel were major reasons for the change.

“The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night,” Vance wrote. He also questioned whether the military campaign was worth the political cost, saying Republicans had lost control of both the Senate and the House.

Tehran Turns The Knife

Ghalibaf replied by comparing the administration to a gambler who cannot stop losing. “Losing gambler energy, can’t walk away from the table,” he wrote.

“Boss is prepping the next war phase while America teeters on an Israel-first cliff. Skip the TED talk. Why not say this to your boss?” he added, aimed at Vance but also clearly directed at Trump and his Iran policy.

In another post, the Iranian speaker welcomed the Democratic victory, writing, “Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message.”

His comments came after Democrats won both chambers of Congress in the elections, ending Republican control of the Senate and the House, as reported by The New Indian Express.

The war began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces attacked Iran and killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with several senior officials. Iran responded by attacking US military bases in the Gulf and closing the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil shipments.

Those actions pushed up oil and fuel prices, increasing living costs in the United States and adding to public anger against Trump’s party before the election.

Mojtaba Warns US Hostility Will Persist

Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said US hostility toward Iran would continue no matter which party controlled Congress. He also warned that any new attack on Iran would make the conflict larger.

Trump did not back away from the military campaign. He accepted that higher fuel prices had hurt Republicans, but said stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons was more important than the political damage.

The conflict has also spread beyond Iran. Israel has carried out strikes in Lebanon, while Yemen’s Houthis have attacked energy facilities, airports and other targets in Saudi Arabia, increasing instability across the region.
