Low Pressure In Bay: Heavy Rain Likely In Odisha For 5 Days
Bhubaneswar: After remaining subdued for nearly two weeks, the south-west monsoon has become active in Odisha with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall for five days.
“A cyclonic circulation lying over the north-west Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood is most likely to concentrate into a low-pressure area over the same area during next 48 hours. As the low pressure will be more intense under the influence of the east-west shear zone which is tilting southwards, there will be heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at or two places across Odisha,” said the IMD in a mid-day bulletin on Wednesday.
In view of the heavy rainfall, the IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts:
July 21
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Angul.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Khurda, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Kandhamal, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh and Angul.
July 22
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Deogarh.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri and Sundargarh.
July 23
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Sonepur.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kandhamal, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
July 24
Heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.
July 25
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Balasore, Koraput and Malkangiri.
