Bhubaneswar: With a fresh low-pressure area all set to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department on Sunday issued a heavy rainfall warning for 10 coastal districts of Odisha.
In a mid-day bulletin, the IMD said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal off the south Andhra Pradesh coast, a low-press area is going to form over the same area in the next 24 hours. Going by the modular study, the system is most likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours. Under its influence, heavy rainfall will occur in most parts of coastal Odisha with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in the south coastal districts.
The rainfall activities in these areas will increase from the afternoon on Monday and continue till October 23 morning.
Apart from the coastal districts, there will be light to moderate rainfall in the remaining parts of the state during this period.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow and orange warnings for the following districts.
October 18

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada.
October 19
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.
October 20
(Orange warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Gajapati and Ganjam.
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Puri.
October 21
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Bhadrak.
October 22
