Bhubaneswar: The day temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius during the next 24 hours amid light rain at some places in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
Light rain may occur at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Rayagada and Gajapati districts on April 6 and Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on April 7.
According to the MeT office, a cyclonic circulation is active over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the south Bay of Bengal area during the next 48 hours, causing widespread light/moderate rainfall over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 6-7 days. Squally weather with wind speed 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph may prevail over Andaman Sea and over southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining central Bay of Bengal during April 6-9.
It further stated that thunderstorm activity with gusty wind is likely to resume in Odisha from April 8. The IMD has issued yellow warning for several districts of the state from April 8-10.
The weather agency further stated that light to moderate rain may continue during the subsequent two days with little change thereafter. The forecast is for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangapur on April 11 and Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on April 12.
