Low Pressure To Persist Over Bay Of Bengal For Next Five Days: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which on Monday issued heavy rainfall warning in nine districts of Odisha over the next 24 hours under the influence of an east-west trough, said that the low-pressure area over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal will persist for the next five days.

IMD also said that rainfall will continue in Odisha till next week.

In view of the changing weather condition, IMD has issued orange and yellow warning over the following districts:

MAY 4
Orange warning
Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hail and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal.

Yellow warning
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph at one or two places over rest coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Angul,  Kandhamal and Boudh.

MAY 5
Orange warning
Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh and Kandhamal.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorm at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

Yellow warning
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph over the remaining districts of Odisha.

MAY 6
Yellow warning
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir and Mayurbhanj.

MAY 7
Yellow warning

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Mayurbhanj.
