LS Polls, 6th Phase: Voter Turnout 59% Till 7.45 PM; Odisha Records 60.07%

New Delhi: Voter turnout in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha elections may be lower than in previous rounds.

Around 59.06 per cent of eligible electors cast their votes till 7.45 pm on Saturday, according to data provided by Election Commission of India.

Like in most phases, West Bengal recorded the highest turnout of 78.19% per cent, while Jammu & Kashmir was at 52.28%.

Delhi’s polling percentage was a disappointing 54.48, as was Bihar’s 53.30% and Uttar Pradesh’s 54.03 per cent.

Jharkhand recorded 62.74%, Odisha 60.07% and Haryana 58.376%, according to ECI data.

A total of 58 Lok Sabha seats went to polls on Saturday across 8 states and union territories.

All 7 Parliamentary seats in Delhi voted on May 25, along with 10 in Haryana, 8 each in Bihar and West Bengal, 6 in Odisha, 4 in Jharkhand, 14 in Uttar Pradesh and 1 in Jammu & Kashmir.

The seventh and final phase, on June 1, will see 57 constituencies voting.
