Mumbai: Union minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari fainted on Wednesday afternoon during an election rally due to severe heat conditions.
The senior BJP leader was delivering a speech at Yavatmal, in Maharashtra, when he felt unwell and collapsed on stage.
Party members and workers who were around him acted promptly and helped revive Gadkari with necessary medical assistance.
Gadkari was able to complete his speech and travel to his next election rally.
One of the most respected ministers in Narendra Modi’s Cabinet, Gadkari himself posted a message on X shortly afterwards.
“I felt discomfort due to the heat at the rally in Pusad, Maharashtra. But now I am completely healthy, and am leaving for Varud to attend the next meeting. Thank you for your love and good wishes,” Gadkari tweeted.

BJP’s Nagpur candidate Gadkari, who featured in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 19, was campaigning for Yavatmal-Washim candidate Rajashree Patil, who is from Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena.
