Bhubaneswar: The partial lunar eclipse, which will take place on Monday night, will be visible across the country.
According to experts, the full moon will enter the Earth’s shadow in space and create a spectacular celestial phenomenon at 10.52 pm. The duration of the eclipse will be around 1 hour 55 minutes. This is perhaps the first properly visible lunar eclipse this year.
February had witnessed a penumbral eclipse of the moon. On the 11th of that month the moon passed not through the direct shadow of the earth but through its periphery, the experts said.
This partial lunar eclipse will be visible in the whole of Asia and Australia and most parts of Europe and Africa.
Lunar eclipses are completely safe to view with naked eyes. No special filters are required and one does not need a telescope to watch it, although a good pair of binoculars will enhance the experience, the experts added.
The next lunar eclipse will be on January 31 and it will be total. It will also be visible from all parts of the Indian sub-continent.
