Mahanadi Floodwater Reaches Mundali Barrage In Cuttack, Water Level Below Danger Mark
Cuttack: The season’s first floodwater of the Mahanadi released from Hirakud Dam reached Mundali barrage in Odisha’s Cuttack district early on Tuesday.
According to sources, floodwater reached the barrage between 1 am and 2 am and about 2.57 lakh cusec was reported flowing through it by 8 am. The water flow is likely to peak by noon with excess floodwater being released from 20 gates of Hirakud Dam since July 28.
Sources further said that water level is below the danger level. Flood control rooms at Mundli and Naraj barrages are on alert.
Earlier, Special relief commissioner Satyabrata Sahu has instructed collectors of Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts to remain alert and urged people to not enter the river.
