Chhichhore – This Nitesh Tiwari’s film celebrates friendships that survive the test of time. The story is about former college buddies, Anni (Sushant Singh Rajput), Maya (Shraddha Kapoor), Derek (Tahir Raj Bhasin), ‘Sexa’ (Varun Sharma), ‘Acid’ (Naveen Polishetty), ‘Bevda’ (Saharsh Kumar Shukla) and ‘Mummy’ (Tushar Pandey), who were dubbed as ‘losers’.

3 Idiots – Raju, Rancho and Farhan give us the glimpse of perfect engineering life in a hostel and the friendship that grows along with things happening around the campus. The support from friends can make us achieve anything and this movie successfully depicts that!

Kai Po Che! – Sushant Singh Rajput made his debut in Bollywood with this buddy drama film directed by Abhishek Kapoor. It based on Chetan Bhagat’s 2008 novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life. It is the story of three friends, Ishaan, (Sushant Singh), Omi (Amit Sadh) and Govind (Rajkummar Rao), who want to start their own sports shop and sports academy against the backdrop of 2001 Gujarat earthquake and Godhra train burning incidents.

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani – Definitely one of the movies, the generation now can relate to. From travelling to those stupid jokes and all the music and dance, this movie sums up the life of college friends giving us a glimpse of how things can change after years. This movie teaches a lot about friendship and the true essence of it.

Billu Barber – It is a very simple, sweet and innocent film portraying the power of friendship. The film stars Irfan Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Lara Dutta. The story is about how two childhood friends go on their separate paths early in their life to achieve different heights. While Shahir (Shahrukh) achieved his dream of stardom and the riches, Billu (Irrfan) was content with his simple and humble life as a barber in Budbuda village.

Wake Up Sid!- Sid and Ayesha share a very innocent form of relationship where Ayesha turns the spoilt kid into a responsible and caring person. Ayesha is one of those ‘Moms’ of our group who scolds, cribs, takes care and is always there for us. Sometimes, even goes as far getting us a job.

Rang De Basanti- No other such movie by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehera has gripped us as much as this. Adapting the story of India’s freedom fighters in contemporary time by telling the story of a group of friends who voice their protest against injustice to their friend who dies in a mishap. The movie takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. While it begins with tears of joy, it ends with tears of pride and grief as the friends choose death over running away from the fight.

Sholay- Because, why not? The legendary Jai-Veeru friendship is all we need in life sometimes. The movie is a treat to the eyes no matter how many times you watch it with Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra having you drool over them.

Yaarana- The name itself suggests how much it is about friendship. It’s emotional and almost unbelievable how Bishan (Amjad Khan) sells away everything to make his talented friend Kishan (Amitabh Bachchan) into a sensational singer. The climax had us all crying. It is a perfect example of the extent to which friends can go for each other.

Anand- It is one of the most heart-touching stories where a terminally-ill patient teaches his doctor-turned-friend the nuances of life. The friendship that holds them both together with dialogues that pierces the soul, has all of us in tears. Rajesh Khanna took our heart away in Anand.

Many other movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Rock On! have given us a new perspective on friendship and the hardships friends have to go to stay together. Friends are one of the most essential parts of life and every movie has some character with a best friend without whom, the heroes could do nothing! Happy Friendship Day to each and every friend associated with us, helping us grow and supporting us.
