Balangir: The Additional District and Sessions Judge Court, here on Tuesday rejected the bail application of the prime accused in the school teacher Mamita Meher murder case, Govind Sahu.
The court rejected the plea on the ground that Sahu’s release may lead him to influence the witnesses and the ongoing investigation. During the hearing of the case, the police submitted the case diary and the recorded statements of the witnesses to the court.
Speaking to the media after the court announced its order, Sahu’s advocate Mohan Lal Sharma said the court rejected the bail plea as it apprehended that Sahu may abscond after being released on bail as he had earlier escaped from police custody.
Stating that the investigation was in preliminary stage, Sharma said they would decide their next course of action after examining the court order.
