Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Youth Congress has decided to take its demand for the resignation of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra over his alleged involvement in the alleged murder of schoolteacher Mamita Mishra, to Delhi.
The Congress activist will stage a demonstration in front of Office of Delhi Resident Commissioner on November 9 and 10 and at Jantar Mantra the following day, president of the youth wing of Congress Smruti Lenka informed on Sunday.
Senior leaders of the party are likely to join the agitation at Jantar Mantra, she added.
The youth wing of Congress will also submit a memorandum to the President on either November 11 or 12 to mount pressure on the Odisha government for dismissing Mishra as a minister and bringing him under the purview of investigation in the sensational murder case.
Before heading for Delhi, the Youth Congress activists will sit on a dharna for two nights on November 6 and 7 in front of Raj Bhawan here, demanding justice for Mamita Meher and the dismissal of the minister.
The protestors will meet Governor Ganeshi Lal and submit a memorandum addressing the President the following morning.
Notably, a delegation of Congress, including party’s Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar and national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, had visited Mamita Meher’s family at Jharni village in Balangir district on October 28. They posed three questions to the government and demanded death sentence for all accused, besides the dismissal and arrest of Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged link with prime accused Govind Sahu.

The remains of Mamita, who went missing on October 8, were recovered from Mahaling Stadium on October 19. Sahu was arrested the same day and police later claimed that he had confessed to having murdered her after she threatened to expose her extra-marital affair.
