Balasore: A man allegedly poisoned his elderly mother to death over family dispute in at a village in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident has been reported from Chakaisopa village under Kamarda Police Station limit. These allegations have been levelled against Lakshmikanta Dalai by his relatives.
According to sources, Lakshmikanta had frequent quarrels with his mother Padmabati Dalai. Padmabati’s nephew and sister-in-law have accused Lakshmikanta of plotting his mother’s murder.
They have said Lakshmikanta beat his mother and allegedly forcefully fed her poison on Friday night, which led to Padmabati’s death.
Speaking to a local news channel, Padmabati’s nephew Baidhyanath Dalai said, “He dropped his wife at her mother’s house. While returning home, he purchased poison and fed it to his mother.” Padmabati’s sister-in-law stated she saw Lakshmikanta beating his mother and threatening to kill her.
The villagers, who suspected him of the murder, tied him to a tree and informed police. Kamarda police have reached the spot and begun an investigation.
