Balasore: A man was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly assaulting his mother at Batipada village under Basta block in Bhadrak district.
The arrest was made after a video featuring Sridhar Barik assaulting his mother went viral on social media on June 8. “The video showed an elderly woman being brutally thrashed by her son over a family feud. Soon after the incident came to the fore, an investigation was started following which the accused arrested,” a police officer said.
Barik’s neighbours also accused him of frequently assaulting his mother over petty issues, the officer added.
In another incident, reported from Gaisilat area in Bargarh district three days ago, a woman was arrested after a video clip of her brutally assaulting her mother-in-law went viral on social media.
