Bhubaneswar: A man was arrested in Bhubaneswar for allegedly posting inflammatory content on social media in the aftermath of the recent violent clashed in Cuttack.
The accused, identified as Pradeep Chandra Sahoo (44) of Brahmeswar Patna in Badagada area, was taken into custody by the Bharatpur police in the capital city following a complaint
Police said the accused had posted objectionable, communal and inflammatory content online, including abusive language and misinformation, with the potential to disturb communal harmony.
A routine review by the Commissionerate Police’s social media monitoring team flagged his posts, which were found to violate public order advisories. The accused continued to post provocative content despite repeated warnings issued by the Odisha Police and the Commissionerate Police against circulating fake news or inciting unrest related to the Cuttack incident.
Meanwhile, the 36-hour curfew has been lifted in Cuttack city as normalcy is gradually returning. Similarly, internet services have also been restored in the city after being suspended for 48 hours following violence incidents.
