Rourkela: In a shocking incident, a married woman was allegedly raped near the railway tracks close to Raghunathpalli Police Station in Odisha’s Rourkela City.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place near the tracks close to the Station Manager’s office on Monday night when the woman, a daily wager, was returning home after work.
When the woman was walking along the railway tracks, she was intercepted by the accused and sexually assaulted. She managed to escape and ran towards the Station Manager’s office. After spotting the woman in a distressed state, railway staff and locals came to her aid, and informed the police.
Taking swift action, teams from the Raghunathpalli Police Station and the Railway Police reached the site. Police apprehended two of the suspects, and later arrested the main accused, identified as Kahnucharan Jena.
The survivor has since undergone a medical examination and further investigation is underway.
