Kozhikode: A man was arrested in Kerala on Monday for impersonating as an official of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and trying to access information about INS Vikrant.
The accused, identified as Mujeeb Rahman from Elathur in Kozhikode, has been booked under the Official Secrets Act based on a complaint by the Indian Navy.
Posing as PMO official Raghavan, Mujeeb called the Naval Command Headquarters in Kochi to seek details about the location of INS Vikrant. Navy officials immediately reported the suspicious activity to police.
Though a ceasefire has been agreed to with Pakistan after four days of intense conflict, India remains on high alert for any further provocation from across the border or any mischief that could be created on in our country.
INS Vikrant, India’s first home-built aircraft carrier, was commissioned in September 2022 after being built at Cochin Shipyard. INS Vikrant can operate up to 40 aircraft, including two squadrons of MiG-29K fighter jets and around 10 Kamov Ka-31 helicopters. It is armed with 64 Barak missiles designed to counter aerial threats effectively.
