Kendujhar: A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his brother-in-law following a family dispute at a village in Odisha’s Kendujhar district.
According to information, the incident took place at Uliburu Burusahi under the jurisdiction of Barbil police station in the district. The deceased has been identified as Banamali Munda.
Sources said Banamali was allegedly assaulting his wife Shukamati on several occasions. He allegedly attacked her brutally with an axe recently following which Shukamati informed her parental family.
On being informed, her brother Ajay Tiria and mother Saraswati Tiria visited Shukumati’s place on Friday evening. An argument broke out between Ajay and his brother-in-law Banamali. In a fit of rage, Ajay allegedly attacked Banamali, who reportedly died on the spot. After the incident, Ajay fled the scene.
After receiving information, a police team visited the site and seized the body for postmortem. Investigation is in progress and efforts are on to trace and apprehend the accused.
