Puri: An unidentified man was allegedly bludgeoned to death with stones near a pond at the Jagannath Ballav vehicle parking area in Odisha’s Puri town.
According to information, the man had reportedly been roaming around the area for the past few days. His body was found near a pond under the jurisdiction of Town Police Station with severe injuries on Wednesday morning.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. He was suspected to have been mentally ill. Another man, stated to be mentally unsound, was also moving around the area for last few days.
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police suspect that the two may have been involved in an altercation before the incident.
Investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the murder. Efforts are on to establish the identity of the deceased.
