Bhubaneswar: In a gruesome incident, a man was allegedly abducted and hacked by some unidentified miscreants on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. The man sustained critical injuries in the attack that reportedly took place on Monday night.
The victim, identified as Santosh Kumar Panda (48), has been admitted to hospital with severe injuries on his leg after the brutal attack.
As per sources, Santosh was abducted while he was standing near Jaripatana Chhak. Four unidentified youths in a car without a number plate forcibly took him.
He was reportedly taken to the bank of the Kuakhai River near Barimunda where the miscreants hacked with sharp weapons. The miscreants also fired bullets at his legs before leaving the spot.
Local residents rushed to the site hearing a scream for help, prompting the attackers to flee. A team from Nandankanan Police Station rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the incident might have been triggered by some dispute related to property.
Santosh, a property dealer, had previously filed a court case over a Kalyanpur-based property of his relative valued at approximately Rs 5 Crore, which was allegedly acquired fraudulently by someone else. He had reportedly received threats warning him against pursuing the matter, with offers of money to drop the case.
