Raurkela: A man died after being allegedly pushed by his friend from an under-construction water tank following a dispute over a woman in Odisha’s Sundaragada district.
According to information, the incident took place at Trinath Colony under the jurisdiction of Lathikata police station in Raurkela city.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Mallick, while the accused has been identified as his friend Kamal Das alias Kuna Das.
Sources said Abhishek and Kuna were consuming alcohol at the water tank in the colony on Wednesday night. Both men were reportedly in a relationship with the same woman.
A dispute allegedly broke out between the two friends after it emerged that the woman was more inclined towards Abhishek. During the altercation on top of the water tank, Kuna allegedly pushed Abhishek, who fell on the ground and reportedly died on the spot.
Following the incident, Kuna allegedly attempted to portray the death as an accident.
After receiving information, Lathikata police reached the spot and launched an investigation. They arrested Kuna Das in connection with the incident. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to Abhishek’s death.
