Man Loses Rs 3 Lakh In Aadhaar-PAN Linking Fraud In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar:  A father’s dream of getting his daughter married came crashing down after he lost Rs 3 lakh in an Aadhaar-Pan linking fraud in the Odisha capital.

According to reports, Malyabanta Nayak of Bhubaneswar had been to a Jan Seva Kendra (Common Service Centre) to get his Aadhaar and Pan linked with his bank account.

The official at the Seva Kendra told Nayak that there was a linking issue and his mobile number was required to solve the problem.

Without even thinking for a second, Nayak shared his mobile number and all other important details with the official at the Kendra.  In no time, the fraud official transferred Rs 3 lakh from Nayak’s account to his wife’s bank account.

Sharing the details of the fraud, Nayak said, “He asked me to give my Aadhaar card, PAN card and voter ID. Then he told me that there were some linking issues and took my mobile. Later, I found that Rs 3 lakh has been deducted from my account.”

Following a complaint by Nayak, the police have arrested the fraud official and his wife, and futher investigating the case.

According to the police, the official had spent Rs 2.5 lakh on online gambling and Rs 50,000 to buy a computer set.

Nayak, who worked at a government guest house, had received Rs 3 lakh as gratuity money after retirement. He had saved the money for his daughter’s marriage.

Expressing his helplessness, a worried Nayak said, “I am yet to get back the money. I cannot get my daughter married now.”
