Balasore: A man was arrested by a Delhi Police team from Nilagiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district in connection with a major burglary involving Rs 80 lakh from a house in the national capital.
The accused, identified as Jagabandhu Mallik of Isnwarpur in Balasore, was nabbed after fleeing with a share of the stolen cash following a high-profile robbery.
According to police sources, Jagabandhu and his two associates had allegedly looted Rs 80 lakh from the residence of a builder in CR Park area in New Delhi. The three committed the theft and attempted to return to Odisha with the stolen money.
However, one of the accused, Ashutosh Mallik, was arrested by police at a railway station while attempting to escape. Another accused managed to flee and is believed to have escaped to Bihar, while Jagabandhu had returned to Nilagiri with Rs 20 lakh from the stolen amount.
Based on information obtained from Ashutosh, Delhi Police sent a team to Odisha and Jagabandhu was arrested. Police also reportedly recovered Rs 20 lakh from his possession.
