Man & Son Critically Injured In Sword Attack By Miscreant In Odisha’s Puri Town
Puri: A man and his son sustained critical injuries as a miscreant attacked them with swords and exploded bombs in broad daylight in Puri town of Odisha on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident took place in front of the house of 65-year-old Sandip Sanyal at Nali Padia in Janamangal area under Baliapanda police station in the town.
While Sandip was taking bath, he heard explosion of two crude bombs and rushed outside. At the time, the accused, Manas Senapati, who was known to the family, tried to attack Sandip with a sword.
As Sandip cried for help and started running to save his family, Manas ran after him. On hearing his father shouting, Sandip’s younger son Mrutyunjay Sanial rushed outside. He also ran to save is father.
Meanwhile, the accused caught hold of Sandip and hit him with the sword. As Mrutyunjay tried to protect his father, Manas attacked him also. While Sandip sustained critical injuries on his hands, Mrutyunjay was injured in his leg.
On being informed, a team from Baliapanda police station went to the spot and sent both Sandip and Mrutyunjay to the district headquarters hospital. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
Speaking to the media, Sandip’s wife said Manas used to create nuisance in front of their house and misbehave with the girl members of the family. When Sandip’s sons told him to desist from such nuisance, Manas had threatened them of dire consequences, she added.
