Man Who Took Over School Building In Odisha’s Sundargarh With Bow & Arrows Captured After 4 Days

Sundargarh: A miscreant, who had virtually taken over a school building in Odisha’s Sundargarh district for the last five days terrorising locals, was apprehended by the police on Wednesday.

The man, who terrorised people by brandishing bows and arrows and slingshots, was taken to Mahulapada Police Station after being nabbed by a team of police, fire service and DVF personnel.

The man, identified as Dhani Munda, had been terrorising the local people after he took over the Badajala school building, threatening to shoot anyone who came near him.

The high drama began on Saturday evening when Munda reached the terrace of the school building. He was armed with bows and arrows, and started threatening people. He allegedly attacked the school’s headmaster, injuring him on the head.

The accused also shot an arrow at the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Mahulpada police station on Tuesday, causing him injuries. IIC Suresh Chandra Pradhan was admitted to hospital at Bonai as the arrow struck his hand.

After several attempts to disarm and apprehend him, the police personnel finally succeeded in capturing Munda on Wednesday, bringing an end to the siege that had gripped the area.

The injured IIC and the headmaster are both reported to be in stable condition. The police are investigating the incident and the motive behind Munda’s actions.

The miscreant had reportedly released a ten-page letter demanding Rs 100 crore.
