Reports said the summons, issued late Saturday, comes as President’s Rule — imposed on February 13, 2025, after former CM N Biren Singh’s resignation — nears its one-year mark on February 12, with the 60-member assembly in suspended animation since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023.
Sharda Devi told reporters at Imphal airport: “All NDA legislators have been called. We are hoping and believing that a popular government will be formed.” Biren Singh, who led Manipur through over 260 deaths and thousands displaced in Meitei-Kuki-Zo clashes, expressed optimism: “Since all MLAs of NDA partners are invited, I expect a positive outcome.” Lamsang MLA S Rajen Singh hinted at leadership selection by the high command post-situation assessment, while others like H Dingo noted the evening agenda remains undisclosed.
