Malkangiri: Maoist posters once again surfaced in Malkangiri district on Friday, alleging police atrocities against the tribals and exhorting youths to join the banned outfit.
The posters, purportedly put up Gumma area Committee of CPI (Maoist), were found in Andrapali and Nakamamudi panchayats of the districts and coincided with the ongoing People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week long celebration.
Security has already been beefed up across the district in view of the PLGA week from December 2 to December 8 while a joint operation has been launched to check rebel influx from across the border into Malkangiri.
Maoist posters were also found on Thursday in Chitrakonda and in the Malkangiri district.
The posters on Friday claimed the ultras have done several development work in the unreached areas and asked people to join the week long celebration. It alleged the police of torturing innocent Tribals by branding them as maoists and opposed state-conducted elections.
Meanwhile, an audio tape was released by Balangir-Baragarh Mahasamund Division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) secretary Basant Kumar on Thursday, supporting the demand for a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in western Odisha. He alleged that the state government has failed to take steps to tackle the unemployment problem and farmers woes.
