Balasore: A young woman was allegedly killed by a youth after she rejected his advances at a village in Soro area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
As per preliminary information, the youth allegedly killed the woman by slitting her throat at Lingapada village under the jurisdiction of Soro police station in the district. The deceased was identified as Jyotirmayee Rana (25).
While the exact reason behind the murder was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the youth might have committed the crime over a one-sided love affair.
The incident took place when the woman was alone at home. When family members returned, they found her in a pool of blood. She was immediately rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
On being informed, a team from Soro police station reached the spot and launched an investigation to trace and apprehend the accused.
The accused had allegedly been stalking and harassing the woman, and a complaint in this regard was lodged at the Soro police station two days ago.
