Market Building In Bhubaneswar, Closed Since Jan 4, Reopens; Check Details

Bhubaneswar: The Market Building at Unit II in Odisha capital, which was closed by the traders’ association following a dispute between a trader and a street vendor on January 4, reopened on Friday amid strict compliance with COVID-19 norms by shopkeepers and visitors.

Shops reopened after a meeting with BMC additional commissioner, where they were assured that all makeshift shops will be removed.

According to sources, a woman vendor had forcibly occupied a portion of the walkway in front of the trader’s shop. When the shop owner objected to it, she allegedly misbehaved with him and abused him in foul language. She also allegedly damaged the trader’s vehicle.

Protesting against the vendor’s behaviour, the Central Market Association of the Market Building had decided to close the shopping complex.
