New Delhi: Several important files and documents were reduced to ashes in a massive fire at Delhi’s Kashmere Gate Metro police station and the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Metro, late on Friday.
However, no loss of human life or injury to any person was reported in the fire mishap.
According to media reports, the fire engulfed 15 rooms of Kashmere Gate Metro police station and 18 rooms of DCP (Metro) office, and charred record room to the cupboards, files and even beds and cots in the police barrack.
“The Fire Department was alerted at 12:44 am and dispatched eight fire brigade vehicles to douse the flames. They took about four hours to bring the fire under control. The operation continued till morning,” Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg told the media.
Though the exact of the fire is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation indicated that the fire started due to a short-circuit in the false ceiling of one of the rooms in the police station.
