Rourkela: A massive fire broke out inside State Bank of India (SBI)
Rourkela main branch building located at Bisra Square on Saturday
morning.
The mishap occurred at around 5:30 am when some bank employees noticed
smoke emanating from inside the bank and alerted the fire station.
Following which, five fire tenders rushed to the spot after receiving
information from the bank employees. They took about an hour to douse
the flames.
According to officials, though the cash kept in the bank is safe,
five air conditioners, computers, furniture and documents have been
gutted in the fire. An electrical short circuit from one of the air
conditioners might have triggered the incident, they said.
Another fire mishap was also reported from a branch office of LIC
located at Budharaja area in Sambalpur district. Several documents
were damaged in the fire. An electric short circuit is suspected to be
the cause of the fire incident.
