Mathura Priests Up In Arms Against Sunny Leone, Call For Ban On ‘Obscene’ Video

Lucknow: Priests in Mathura have threatened to move court if Sunny Leone’s video album Madhuban is not banned.

The actress and model has been accused of hurting their religious sentiments through an “obscene” dance that she performs to the tune of the iconic Radha-Krishna song ‘Madhuban mein Radhika nache’.

“We will go to court if the government does not act against the actress and ban her video album,” Sant Naval Giri Maharaj of Vrindaban was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Giri Maharaj further said that Sunny should not be allowed to remain in India unless she tenders a public apology and the producers take off the dance scene.

Mahesh Pathak, national president of Akhil Bhartiya Tirth Purohit Mahasabha, was of the opinion that Sunny has maligned Brijbhumi by presenting the song in a “derogatory manner”.

Sunny was trolled by netizens soon after the music video was released on December 22.

The Saregama Music production features Sunny’s dance while the modified number is sung by Kanika Kapoor and Arindam Chakraborty.

Criticism of the music video has been growing by the day mainly for ‘hurting’ Hindu sentiments through Sunny’s sensual moves.
