Bhubaneswar: Making an explosive statement about the ‘midnight operation’ of May 29 in 2012 that rocked Odisha, former MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal has spoken about the role of leaders in the alleged move against the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in the state.
Maintaining that he was innocent and had never been a part of the conspiracy, the ex-legislator claimed that he was dragged into controversy by two leaders, who were Ministers at that time.
These two leaders sought to frame him with ulterior motives, he said without naming anyone. Biswal refrained from naming the former Ministers involved in the alleged plot to damage his political career.
However, these former Ministers had to encounter setbacks in their political careers in later stage, Biswal said, adding that ‘divine justice’ has been done for the role they had played.
The leaders who had involvement at that time are now suffering the consequences of their actions, he told reporters.
Referring to the highly complicated political configurations at that time and confusion among party people, the senior leader said late Pyarimohan Mohapatra had done a lot of work for Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and taken significant decisions in party affairs that time. Similar role was played subsequently by V K Pandian, he said.
Expressing optimism about justice being done to leaders for their actions, Biswal said he is wearing red outfit now instead of white because of the two former Ministers. He further mentioned about the characters of Rama-Ravana and Krushna-Kansa in Ramayan and Mahabharat respectively.
“Such characters are available in today’s politics also. They implicated the honest person on May 29 and God is taking care of them,” the senior leader added.
