MBBS Student Of FMMCH In Odisha Dies After Fall From Hostel Building

Balasore: An MBBS student of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital (FMMCH) in Odisha’s Balasore district was found dead on the hostel premises under mysterious circumstances on Friday.
While it was suspected that the student, identified as Hiteshnu Das, might have jumped off the rooftop of his hostel late Thursday night, the exact circumstances that led to his death were yet to be ascertained. It was not immediately clear as to whether he jumped from the rooftop or had a fall.
Sources said Hiteshnu, a third year MBBS student, and some of his friends had returned to the hostel late in the night after watching a movie in the town.
Hiteshnu had then reportedly sent a text message from his cell phone to his father and allegedly jumped off the rooftop.
The authorities of FMMCH quoting his parents said that Hiteshnu was under mental stress, but reason of the pressure was not clarified.
However, Hiteshnu’s father Chadrakant Das, a resident of Bhimpur in Balasore, alleged that his son was upset over failure to get scholarship. “Hiteshnu was telling the dean of the medical college was harassing students in the matter of awarding scholarship,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident and sent the body for postmortem.
