Medical College At Talcher To Be Named After Former Deputy CM Of Odisha!

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to name the upcoming medical college and hospital at Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district after freedom fighter and former Deputy Chief Minister Prabitra Mohan Pradhan.

It is scheduled to start functioning from October this year.

Besides naming of the institute, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that Pabitra Mohan Smruti Peeth (memorial) will be developed at Talcher and a full-size statue of him will be installed in Bhubaneswar to honour his contribution to India’s freedom struggle and development of Odisha.

The bridge under construction over Brahmani river at Kaniha will also be named after the former deputy chief minister, he added.

Notably, locals had proposed for naming the Medical College & Hospital after him to preserve his memory during 5T Secretary VK Pandia’s visit to Angul on Tuesday.

The CM also approved a proposal to develop Chhendipada Community Health Centre (CHC) under the ‘Ama Hospital’ scheme of the state government and sanctioned Rs 4.65 crore to DFO Angul to prevent man-elephant conflict in Bantala area in the district. He further said that Rs 97 crore has also be sanctioned for three road projects in Angul, construction of as many bridges and two flood centres in Pallahada area.
