New Delhi: Mehrauli murder accused Aftab Poonawala will undergo a narco-analysis test for lie-detection.
The Saket court on Thursday allowed Delhi Police to conduct the test.
Aftab, who strangled live-in partner Shraddha Walkar six months ago and chopped her body into 35 pieces before disposing of those, was arrested on November 11.
Police have been interrogating him continuously. Though they have a ‘confession’ in custody, it’s not valid evidence unless made before a judge and corroborated with other material proof, according to legal experts.
Police believe Aftab is still trying to mislead the investigation and uttering several lies.
Among a number of missing links, Shraddha’s mobile phone and the knife Aftab used to chop her body have still not been found.
The narco test may help fill those crucial gaps.
Aftab’s custody was extended by five more days at the court hearing today.
Police plan to take him to Himachal Pradesh’s Parvati Valley, where the couple holidayed before moving to Delhi in May.
