Mercury Dips To 6.9°C In Odisha, 24 Places, Including Cuttack City, Records Temp Below 15°C

Bhubaneswar: Koraput’s Similiguda was the coldest place in Odisha recording the lowest night temperature at 6.9°C followed by Kirei in Sundargarh at 8.7°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.

At least 24 places in the state recorded minimum temperatures below 15 degree Celsius:

  1. Similiguda in Koraput: 6.9
  2. Koraput: 7.8
  3. Kirei in Sundargarh: 8.7
  4. Phulabani: 9
  5. Daringbadi in Kandhamal: 10
  6. Jharsuguda and Sundergarh: 10.5
  7. Bhawanipatna: 10.6
  8. Nabarangpur: 11
  9. Keonjhar:11.6
  10. Sonepur: 12.2
  11. Angul:12.6
  12. Balangir: 12.8
  13. Deogarh: 13
  14. Hirakud: 13.3
  15. Kendrapada: 13.4
  16. Baripada: 13.5
  17. Balasore: 13.6
  18. Bargarh: 13.8
  19. Sambalpur and Titlagarh: 14
  20. Boudh and Bhadrak: 14.5
  21. Cuttack: 14.6

Bhubaneswar recorded 15.2 degree Celsius.

The IMD has forecast no large change in the night temperature for the next 24 hours. The mercury may rise by 2-3 degree Celsius in the subsequent days. It has also forecast rain in some parts of southern districts of Odisha on December 9-10.
