Met Office Issues Red Warning For Odisha’s 5 Districts

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here on Thursday issued red warning for five districts of the state in view of the low pressure area over north coastal Odisha on Thursday.

In its evening bulletin, the Met office issued the red warning for Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Deogarh districts which are very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places.

Under the influence of the well marked low pressure area over north coastal Odisha and strong monsoon current, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph is very likely over North Bay of Bengal and along and off  North Odisha Coast, the forecast said.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for next 24 hours.

Issuing orange warning, the Met office forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on the day.

The Met office has issued yellow warning for Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Balasore districts where heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places.
