The Fiat-sourced diesel engine is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit that produces 170PS and is available only with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Hector is the first SUV in its class to come with a petrol-hybrid option. The 1.5-litre petrol motor produces 143PS and is mated either to a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
MG claims that the Hector is India’s first ‘connected car’ and its mobile app can be used to do a lot of thing such as start the car and turn on the AC on the automatic variant. It has a 10.4-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The base variant comes with safety features such as ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags, hill hold and traction control. The top end comes with six airbags, powered tail gate, 360-degree surround camera, eight speakers, electric handbrake, rain sensing wipers, a panoramic sunroof and heated outside mirrors.
