Bhopal: ‘Chhava’ is not only doing remarkably well at the box office, Vicky Kaushal’s film is also influencing lives of many people.
So much so that rumours of Mughal-era gold buried under the ground sparked a wild frenzy in a Madhya Pradesh village. Hundreds of people are assembling at night to dig the fields near the historic fort of Asirgarh in Burhanpur after watching ‘Chhaava’.
PTI reported quoting sources that villagers gathered in the area after word spread about a hidden treasure, triggered by the depiction of the fort in ‘Chhaava’.
Several videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. One such video shows people with torches and metal detectors digging through the soil, searching for gold and other treasures at night.
Some people even claimed to have found gold coins, though there is no official confirmation.
“Asirgarh is buzzing with treasure hunters. Gold coins are being found in Haroon Sheikh’s field… People are gathering in huge numbers, and the digging has been on for days,” said local resident Wasim Khan.

The landowners are frustrated as their fields are being disturbed.
Burhanpur SP Devendra Patidar said police are aware and alert.
“We are aware of reports and are investigating. If anyone is caught digging illegally, action will be taken,” Patidar said.
On Friday, a police team went to the site, but the crowd had dispersed by then. They found freshly-dug pits, without any sign of treasure.
‘Chhaava’ featured Vicky as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb.
