Minimum Temp Hovers Around 10°C At 12 Places In Odisha; Touches 13°C At Bhubaneswar & Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: As cold wave gripped most parts of Odisha, the mercury hovered around 10 degree Celsius and below at 11 places in the last 24 hours with Kirei in Sundargarh district becoming the coldest place in the state at 8.3 degree Celsius.

Similarly, G Udaygiri in Kandhamal closely recorded a low of 8.4 degree Celsius followed by Puulbani, the district headquarters town at 8.5 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It said the night temperature in Koraput was recorded at 9.5 degree Celsius, while it was 9.6 degree at Ranital in Bhadrak district, 9.8 in Rourkela, and 10 degree Celsius at Chipilima (Sambalpur district), Angul, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda. The minimum temperature in Sundargarh stood at 10.2 degree Celsius.

The night temperature in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack dropped to 13.2 and 13.5 degree Celsius, respectively.

As dry weather conditions continued in the state, the MeT Centre has forecast shallow to moderate fog at some places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts for two days. However, no major change in weather conditions is likely in the near future.

It may be noted that the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has already issued a caution order asking people to take special care of children and elderly people and stay indoors if the temperature plummets further.
