Minor Boy Rendered Orphan As Parents ‘Commit Suicide’ In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A minor boy was orphaned as his parents allegedly committed suicide after being unable to pay loan in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

According to sources, Bisikesan Sahu of Kankadapala village under Sadar police limits was running a tiffin stall in the village along with his wife Mama Sahu. He had availed loans from local money lenders to run his business. But he was unable to repay the loans as he suffered loss in the business.

On Friday morning, the couple was found hanging in their house by the neighbours. On being informed, police went to the village and seized the bodies. After preliminary questioning of the neighbours, the police sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered an unnatural death case.

Though the police are yet to ascertain the cause of the couple’s suicide, they suspected that the husband and wife might have resorted to the extreme step due to loan burden. They found a writing on the floor of the room, where their bodes were found, mentioning that they had taken poison. Police suspected it to be written by the couple.

Bisikesan and Mama are survived by a 14-year-old son who studies in a school.
