Minor Girl, Engaged As House Help, Rescued From Nalco Nagar In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: A 13-year-old girl has been rescued by Childline from Nalco Nagar in the Capital City.
According to reports, the child belongs to a very poor family who live in a slum under Nayapalli police limits. Her father works as a mason and is engaged in whitewashing works while mother works as a maid.
The child was sent to work with an employee of Nalco where she worked for three months during the COVID pandemic time.
The girl’s pathetic condition came to Childline notice after her video working in the Nalco employee’s home went viral and people started calling Childline.
Dr Benudhar Senapati, Director of Childline, Bhubaneswar said Childline team members reached the house where they found out that the person concerned had handed over the child to Nalco Women’s Club.
The club members handed over the girl to Childline and the girl was produced before Additional CWC and she has ben sent to Viswa Jiban Seva Sangha Open Shelter, said Senapati. The girl’s counselling is going on and action will be taken against the employer if necessary, said Senapati.
