Minor Girl From Rourkela ‘Kidnapped & Sold’ In New Delhi For 2nd Time

Rourkela: A minor girl of Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district has allegedly been kidnapped and sold in New Delhi for second time in 4 months.

In a complaint filed at Plant Site police station in the city, the girl’s father Raju Oram of Timber Colony has alleged that a couple of Gandhi Road, who works as labour agents, had come meet him in his house in September last year. They gave an offer to take his daughter to work in a job in New Delhi with a high salary.

After they took his daughter to the national capital, they sold her to a family there to work as domestic help. Later, the Child Helpline of New Delhi came to know about it and rescued the girl. On being informed by the Child Helpline, Oram went to Delhi and brought her home.

A month after the incident, the woman labour agent again came to Oram’s house with another alluring offer for his daughter. Oram did not agree with the proposal. But his daughter went missing from the house from next day. After failing to trace her despite searching in all possible places, Oram filed the police complaint. But the police are yet to trace the minor girl.

Suspecting that his daughter has been kidnapped by the labour agents and sold in New Delhi again, Oram has sought the intervention of Sundargarh SP to bring her back to Rourkela.
