Balasore: In another case of one-sided love going disarray, a minor girl and her father were critically injured in the attack by a youth in Odisha’s Balasore district on Thursday.
As per reports, the girl, a student of Class X, was going to her school at Kalyani under Gopalpur police station in the district in the morning when the youth, identified as Navin Mallik of Talapada, intercepted her.
Navin expressed his love to the girl and expressed his desire to have a relationship. But the girl turned down her solicitation and told him to leave her alone.
Infuriated by the girl’s rejection, Navin attacked her with a knife. When the girl’s father went to stop Navin, he was also attacked by the dejected lover. As the local people gathered, Navin fled.
The locals rushed the injured girl and her father to a nearby hospital. On being informed, police went to the spot and started investigation. They have also launched a search operation to trace Navin.
It may be noted police had arrested a youth, who allegedly attempted to abduct a college girl at gunpoint, in Jaleswar area of the district on November 24.
